Ever felt like the spotlight was stolen by your own vehicle? Welcome to our world! Heidi, our beloved motorhome, tends to draw more attention than we do. But hey, we're not complaining! In fact, we're thrilled to share some fascinating titbits about Heidi that you might find intriguing.
Birth and Lineage: Heidi came into existence in Germany on the 14th of May, 1992. She's an S700 model with the much sought after 'bar layout' that sets her apart.
Accommodation: This six-berth beauty boasts a fixed double bed at the rear, a drop-down double bed over the cab, and a cozy pull-out sofa bed, perfect for the little ones.
Legacy: Originally owned by a German couple until 2006, Heidi has retained her name through subsequent ownerships.
New Beginnings: John and Joan became Heidi's proud owners when she was first registered in the UK on December 6th, 2006. They lived in her full-time, travelling Europe for 11 years, we became her new owners in October 2017.
Vital Stats: Heidi measures 7.2 metres in length, 2.8 metres in height, and 2.2 metres in width. Unloaded, she weighs 3.3 tons, with a maximum weight of 4.6 tons.
Power and Drive: Sporting a Mercedes diesel engine, model 0M602, with a manual gearbox, Heidi runs on rear-wheel drive, powered by six sturdy wheels.
Mileage Marvel: With a staggering 323,000 km (or 200,000 miles) under her belt, Heidi has journeyed nearly the distance from Earth to the Moon!
Off-Grid Living: Fully equipped with lithium batteries and Victron gear, Heidi can sustain off-grid living for approximately 10 days, offering a liberating sense of independence.
Fuel Efficiency: Heidi's 40-litre LPG gas tank, tucked under the chassis, provides about four weeks of heating and cooking during winter, and even longer in the summer months.
Essential Tanks: With a 200-litre fresh water tank and a 100-litre grey water tank, Heidi ensures we stay hydrated and clean wherever our adventures take us.
Personal Touches: While Heidi's core remains original, we've added personal touches like new carpets, upholstery, lights, a custom-made mattress and new soft furnishings throughout to make her feel like home.
Annual Traditions: Heidi's iconic wing mirror flowers undergo an annual renewing, reflecting the changing seasons and our evolving journey.
Personality Plus: Depending on her mood and behaviour, Heidi goes by various endearing names, each adding to her charm.
Mechanical Care: Over the years, Heidi has received the best care, including new brake lines, a reconditioned prop shaft, full engine refurbishment, and various other mechanical enhancements to keep her running smoothly.
From her humble beginnings in Germany to her adventures on the open road, Heidi isn't just a motorhome; she's a cherished member of our family, ready to embark on countless more memories with us.
