Embarking on our 3000-mile East Coast Greenway cycling escapade in America initially promised excitement, a dash of adventure, and a whole host of much needed fresh challenges for us. But, as we mulled over the enormity of the trip, the itch to sprinkle some positivity beyond mere sightseeing and holiday vibes became irresistible.
Gradually, the idea of pedalling with a purpose bubbled up and an excellent chance to rally support for a charity that really resonated with us both, a cause that we could both really connect with.
Having clocked considerable miles in Heidi, our motorhome, and becoming seasoned pros in handling nomadic living challenges (almost!), unpredictable weather, waning energy levels, and the longing for loved ones and home, we already know that cycling for a good cause would add an extra layer of motivation. We both know that come September 2024, the special people who will benefit from our determination are what will get us out of bed each morning and keep those pedals and wheels turning.
Choosing the right charity for us was no quick decision. We both wanted it to be something that we felt passionate about, something that we felt was much needed in today’s climate and something that we had both experience of. It took some pondering, a dash of reflection, and a sprinkle of thoughtful consideration to pinpoint an organisation that truly sparked our enthusiasm. For the grand reveal of our chosen charity for our 2024 journey, hop over to our dedicated blog post on our charity choice. It's a delightful read, we promise!
